Oracle owns Java, plain and simple. There are alternatives, sure, but it's foolish to think that when it comes to anything within the Java ecosystem, the buck doesn't stop with Oracle. All they have to do is modify the Java licens

My company does on-prem gitlab as well, and it's pretty fantastic. We're in the beginning stages of migrating off of Azure DevOps but so far we're wowed by the features.

There's a whole lot of bootlicking boomers on this post... Abuse in industry is SHOCKINGLY common, and tolerated, as long as those bad actors can make contributions to a project. Thankfully, many companies are starting to become less a

Agreed, "journalists" should be held to a high standard for the information they disseminate. Have we all forgotten "A Rape on Campus" and the fallout for Rolling Stone?

Bingo. Saying that the employees are paid well enough to buy their own health insurance is a red herring because it's not an apples-to-apples comparison, companies get far better rates on insurance products. Gumroad could probably save

Ugh, we really need to reform the H1B. It's basically indentured servitude and helps perpetuate shitty behavior in our industry.

This is why I love old hardware, even as a relatively "young" person in tech. It really keeps you disciplined and honest with your code. I have three older Xeon machines with very bad specs that I use as a Kubernetes cluster, and
