However, just like chatgpt struggles with arithmetic, it also can’t figure out simple logic puzzles. I gave it some puzzles like the ones here: https://www.woojr.com/printable-logic-puzzles-for-kids/ and it has no idea

Sounds like cheating will be trivial in this game as you can just “correct” GPT’s idea of what is in your inventory ;)

I’m surprised nobody has mentioned information density yet. I find the modern practice of adding so much spacing and making the font size gigantic extremely annoying. Sometimes you need detail- and it’s harder to put together a well designe

Since dns was first defined in November 1987, well before Unicode 1.0 was ratified (1991 at the earliest), what would be your suggestion to the original implementers?

Yes, I believe committee members referred to it yesterday during the hearing and asked for (and received) unanimous consent for SBF's statement to be put in the record.

Two things - not only do we have centralized exchanges, but they're also coordinating with each other... what was that about decentralization of power again? Oh, and using seven of your 18 page testimony to basically distract from th

The truth is that the address space is extremely sparse. Every ipv6 subnet is a /64 by default, yet I’m sure most of us have vastly fewer than 2^64 machines in our networks … at least for now

Uber is the same way. At first it was novel and driver pay was heavily subsidized so you had high quality drivers with nice cars. Over time the price for riders increased, driver pay decreased, and driver quality also decreased.

The failure modes are vastly different and the ability for a passenger to pilot a bus to the side of the road in an emergency is much more probable than the aircraft. This is not a reasonable comparison at all.

No need for conspiracies - see for example the presentations from T-Mobile to nanog: https://pc.nanog.org/static/published/meetings/NANOG73/1645/... and https://www.internetsociety.org&#x

The government has a poor track record of pushing a technology in this space. They’ve been mandating ipv6 in the dod for - gosh at least since 2008 or so. Oh, and you have the government to thank for the useless posix subsystem for windows

Actually, aws and the big cloud providers are only now starting to release ipv6 aware services. If close to half of US traffic to google transits over ipv6 is considered a failure, I would hate to see “success”.

And where do those two extra bits go? How do existing routers that don’t know anything about two extra bits route those packets? Here’s the ip packet header: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:IPv4_Packet-en.svg

Yes, T-Mobile for example. I just dumped the interface information from my iPhone and the only address available is an ipv6 address. Everything else is put through an ipv6 to ipv4 gateway. Works fine. Apple has required app developers to su

It should be mentioned that 2^32 was widely considered to be unfathomongly large when ipv4 was developed as well. However now we are pumping out something like 4 ARM cores per person on the planet, per year. Clearly we will need to plan for

What parts of ipv6 used in consumer grade equipment are not understandable or “consumer grade”? Ipv6 in some areas is actually simpler than ipv4. I gave the example of mobile networks because it’s one of the few places consumer facing netwo

I run dual stack at home and every device I have connected to my home network runs ipv6 with no manual configuration whatsoever. It’s easier than ipv4 when you consider providing inbound access to resources (no nat configuration)

Actually there can be an arbitrary number of addresses per device, thanks to the privacy extensions. Since your “device id” is a simple derivation of your MAC address, technically you could be tracked across ipv6 networks through that. Ther

Gp comment refers to the number of routing table entries, not total number of addressable ips. Ideally the number of ipv6 allocations should be close to 1 rather than close to 1000.

It’s mostly a solved problem as most mobile network operators are ipv6 only now. My iPhone only has an ipv6 address for example.
