Pretty much every bank offers a bill pay service that automatically reverts to paper checks if the recipient can’t be paid electronically. Capital one 360 as well as my local credit unions have this feature.

I have many issues with Siri but adding things to the reminder list across the family works fairly seamlessly for me, now that my wife has given permission in the 'home' app to use personal requests. That said, my 11yo daughter sa

Same. I have a .family domain which is great, but about 1/3rd of the registration flows claim it’s an “invalid email address”. I have an older .org to fall back on, but it would be nice to use one domain for everything.

I’m tired of the constant “no evidence” bs. I have children and their behavior changes dramatically when they eat food with artificial coloring. I’m honestly tired of being told I’m crazy. You can take my kids and try it yourself.

I’m sorry you were downvoted. I agree completely as a parent of a child who goes entirely off the rails with even the smallest amount of food containing red 40.

I think often about this sort of “digital rot”. It’s got to be more common than we anticipate.

Every time I read these articles I am so happy that the sponsored links are blocked by Pi-hole. Makes my family furious because it also disables all the shopping links as well, but well worth it imo.

That's weird, I have a Google Workspace account with less than 10 paid users and had several in-depth conversations with support personnel on SMTP and DNS setup issues. It was outsourced to an overseas call center, but they did respond

While I agree with your premise, once you charge someone for something, even if it is $1/year, then they start expecting something for that money above and beyond what you provided earlier. In other words, now you've got to budg

Exactly. There is a gross information asymmetry that underlies the problem. In order to participate in many parts of society, you need a phone number. For 99% of us, the link between that phone number and your identity is basically public.

I receive at least 10-20 scam, robocall, or hangup calls per day. That’s hardly “occasional”. At least we both agree on how we would get rid of our phone numbers. But the reason businesses use it as a verification method is because it is ha

You can probably get your old card issuer to pull up your statement. I’ve done similar stuff in the past with closed brokerage accounts. It may be an involved process and take a while to reach the right person but worth a try at least!

Ironically enough slack is organizational memory where I work. We have an insane retention policy where emails are auto deleted after 60 days. It’s nuts - just when you need that sent email, you realize it’s gone. Yet slack is not subject t

Oh, please. Elon has nothing to do with this. Workers have had the shaft for centuries. Tech workers have been treated with kid gloves compared to the “real” world.
