True, it's not commonplace to have the buildings be open like that. But that's one of the things that set MIT apart, and it sucks to see it go away. I for one will do my best to see these policies overturned.

Congrats on the launch, Laila and Iliana! Quick question: why are the companies with on-site jobs restricted to Europe and Canada (if they are in fact restricted)? Thanks!

I never knew community colleges were predatory and for profit. Aren't they public institutions? Do you have any good references you can share? Thanks

It'd be interesting to do this analysis with other type of vehicles, like scooters or bikes. The mileage/depreciation is substantially lower, to the point where it might not be that bad of a pay (and if you're biking, you can

The statement is NOT "it's ok because he didn't know". The statement is "he probably didn't know". If he did have sex with her, it's still not ok, regardless of whether he knew or not. And yes, he wou

I think the news (and many others) are misunderstanding what rms said (or they intentionally misrepresented his words). The way I understand what rms said is that the victim would've acted ("presented herself") as willing to

Well, yeah, pretty much. In number theory you study properties/patterns of the numbers. This is an example of such a property. These properties often seem like they don’t have any applications, and often they don’t, but not always. For

The problem is not to enumerate or find the set of numbers that are sums of cubes. The conjecture is: every integer that is not of the form 9k+4 or 9k+5 can be expressed as the sum of 3 cubes (and, in infinitely many ways).

My rule of thumb: if I hear a mistake once, I let it pass (maybe it was just a one-off mistake instead of a misconception). If it hear it twice, I offer the correction kindly. All such interactions have been met with gratitude.

I am a host. I pay $80 for cleaning the unit. I have to pay regardless of whether the guest stayed 1 night or 2 weeks. 1-night stays end up being very expensive. And I agree with Airbnb being like Ticketmaster in the fees department. It

Why do you claim the shortages are due to suppliers becoming malicious? Why do you claim the US sanctions are to blame, when said sanctions have only been applied to individuals? (Unless there are new ones I'm not aware of).

You can't just pick and choose a bad economic sanction from the past and claim all economic sanctions are bad and cause misery. The lack of food and medicine in Venezuela is purely the Venezuelan government's fault, and Jorge Arre

Well there's nothing new here. Also, such poor headline. "Be ready to lose all your money" sounds like a threat. He really said "be prepared to lose all your money", which sounds more like sound advice.
