All that private key nonsense falls in this bucket as well. What else is a private key than an attempt to guard your system behind a thin veil of "an obscure number I know and you don't" ? Classic security by obscurity.

If AMD can be turned around, why can't Intel I’m sure they “can” be. That doesn’t mean it’s a simple matter to ensure it will happen. Misdiagnose the problem, trust the wrong leadership, or fail to secure sufficient financial backing

There's a lot we quietly take for granted. Supposedly the NPUs on phones were originally added to let the phone identify objects in your photo library. When shopping for phones, I tend to shop for better battery and camera... but I als

Why do we find it acceptable to help... I think if the widely available help for alcoholics, smokers, or opioid addicts mainly mitigated the negative consequences - enabling them to drink, smoke, or dope more - it wouldn't be nearly

Counter argument: if we accept the military example as doing leadership/management well, you can say the same about their career track. Far as I can tell, there’s no “IC” track above Corporal, which has an average age of 21yo.

Colic is medical shorthand for “we have no idea”. Which inherently means there are many, many different & completely unrelated causes of colic.

That’s hard for me to wrap my head around. I have friends who want a second kid but worry about whether they could still pay their mortgage and buy food. No wealthy family is worrying about that. The cost of raising a kid might go up with i

They have 125,000 employees and 13B in revenue. TSMC, Nvidia, and AMD combined (fab, GPU, CPU) have around 88,000 employees on 710B in revenue. Intel may honestly have far more headcount than they need.

I've always thought there's some geopolitical chess at here. The US can't abide being completely dependent on the island of Taiwan. So if TSMC wasn't willing to do this, the US might fund an alternative. This could leave

Espresso is a weird animal. In my experience, there’s basically “good espresso” and “bad espresso”. The fancy equipment mostly helps you make the good kind more frequently. Experts can critique your cup, but hitting the sweet spot of “good”

The voice assistants are too basic. As folks have said before, nobody trusts Alexa to place orders. But if Alexa was as competent as an intelligent & capable human secretary, you would never interact with Amazon.com again.

In theory, a codebase is a language precisely describing a program. The same program can be described in other languages. So that’s what you’re asking the LLM to do, in the same way you can describe a flower in either English or Spanish.
