Building OpenCL into Vulkan to try and force NVidia's hand probably isn't going to work out well.

One example is not most developers. I'm a developer and I get paid to write hardware accelerated renderers and for the past two years I've been recommending Vulkan.. I'm exclusively using Linux these days for software develop

That is so crazy. Sounds like Google really shot themselves in the foot on the PR front here. All over $700 USD.

That sounds like a good way to ensure your access to every Google service gets permanently revoked.

If you write unit tests like this, it's your own fault when the bridge collapses from driving a car over it.

Thanks, I'd love any and all feedback. I use it almost daily and my goal is to make it as awesome as possible!

Nope, if you submit a PR with crappy unit tests, I'll throw it politely back in your face and tell you to rewrite them :D

I've been throwing around the idea of making a new intermediate file format which can contain only pre-multiplied transparency. But, do you know any file format already supports this?

We used to do this in a school - it wasn't creepy - hear me out: We had labs of iMacs and if anything happened to a machine, kids would (more often than not) just yank the power cord. Occasionally this would foobar the machine entirely

A 16bpp linear pre-multiplied format would be awesome. sRGB is a pain to use in practice: - Slow to convert to linear colour space (requires a pow).. except - GPUs use an 8-bit lookup table to convert input sRGB to output linear value. - Th

I have 100% code coverage on a couple of projects. It has two benefits: Behaviour is completely covered by tests, so changes in APIs which might break consumers of the library will at least be detected. New work on the library tends to foll

The reality is that these tools add value that extends beyond mere package management. You are right though, if you just use them to install things, and not as part of a development process, they might seem superfluous.

The "grab some popcorn" mentality is offensive. It's actually a symptom of this problem - people aren't taking critical discussion seriously. Everyone suffers because of this.

I'm not employed so I don't have an employer, and I don't work hourly rates, I work fixed price contracts specifically for that reason. I also can't even imagine working 9 hours a day 5 days a week for the best 30 years

As a consultant who works from home with two (young) kids, it's hard to imagine working these kinds of hours. It seems sort of inhumane.

And to add to that, higher DPI usually = less inter-pixel gap, which for some people reduces eye-strain.

Off the top of my head: - Cropping can be more flexible. - Higher resolution = better IQ at lower resolution than sensor at that resolution, because sensors have a bayer pattern.

I think it was an account I had with Sony Planetside where the password was lowercased on signup, but not all parts of their site did it....... (e.g. forums, game itself, etc).

We had a specific lounge chair, which when you sat in it with a laptop, if someone was using the microwave, the wi-fi would drop out. If you stood up, everything was fine. We took that lounge suite to the holiday house. Good riddance :)

When I designed fingerprint ( https://github.com/ioquatix/fingerprint ) I allowed multiple checksums, which means you CAN migrate from one checksum to another pretty easily. However, I didn't use a Merkle tree in th

That's awesome, I think this is the perfect CPU for my next ZFS NAS. If you try to find ECC support in Intel's lineup, it's hard to find much. Either the low end Pentium, or the high end Xeon ($$$).
