IMO that telnet server was not meant to be a backdoor - it was probably caused by lazyness or incompetence. It's common, very very common. Look at this Defcon video: http://youtu.be/h5PRvBpLuJs

Even with just a simple hosts file, I can't see any ads on mobile. It's amazing that by just blocking domains we can archeive that. The web is awesomely flexible.

I like that on the remote server he prefixes commands with a space so they won't get saved in the history file.

If someone wants to try it, the Nim language already has that implemented, you only need to enable it. The manual calls it "strong spaces". http://nim-lang.org/docs/manual.html#syntax-strong-spaces

It's considered insecure to browse the web with TOR while having Javascript enabled. This is not news.

4chan's technology board had exactly this running for some time, with some extra features. It ended up being banned. If anyone wants to reuse it, the source code is on Github: https://github.com/stallmaninterjector/

Nice! What do you think about asking a user for the place they live? E.g. German people would also get to choose a .de domain, Polish people .pl one, etc.

But there's nothing new in this project. And now the developer knows that their competition has everything they have, so we may expect something new in their project.

Looks great! But it seems to be buggy on mobile devices. Kidna works on Android Browser from Android 4.4 and doesn't work on Firefox. It sadly seems to not be Open Source so I can only complain about it.

FYI, you can do the same in Android. Hold on the notification, click "App Info", untick "Show Notifications". Or go to settings, "Applications", select the app, untick "Show Notifications".
