And Reddit just got done crapping all over them, and they're still there working for free. I think X will be ok.

I've been looking into mechanical watches. Not quite Rolex level, but Égard watches look interesting. Maybe I'm just becoming a graybeard, but I'm tired of software updates, constantly charging devices, and throwing away good

Another 'floxie' here. While mine was 'mild' it was still scary as I was prescribed Cipro along with an NSAID which is contradicted in the Cipro literature. My issues were the joint and tendon pain to an extent, but most

e-waste is a sad thing. Hopefully you can use those computers with Linux or similar for long after Microsoft says they're garbage. By e-waste here I mean: Perfectly good working hardware that gets an arbitrary EoL solely based on softw

The allure of a PC is (was?) to buy one machine that can do it all. I guess doing it all now includes having ads shoved into your face from every software vendor around. I don't know what the landscape for ads on consoles are, but I ca

This software is great, and I love the 3 levels of defaults that you can choose from. Also creating a restore point automatically is nice. I've used other O&O software (backup) and found it to be pretty solid, so when they first re

The software problem is still a thing. Games and many commercial software packages that people need to get work done. Adobe Suite, AutoDesk, Microsoft Office and I'm sure there are more. Things are tons better now than they were even 2

Indeed. Even Amazon third-party has good deals on used discs. I miss FamilyVideo who had tons of rental discs for sale for $2-$5 during sales and $5-10 normally.

Unfortunately, ad supported stream services are making tons of cash and aren't going anywhere. Just like Netflix and password sharing crackdown, outside of the tech bubble, people don't care. Or don't care enough.

Yep 1Blocker is good, simple, and does Safari and DNS filtering. Devs are fairly responsive. Adguard (which lichess lists on their site) has an iOS app also that can do Safari and DNS filtering as well.

There won't be a big wave again until something happens to cause one. Innovation is still happening, but it usually takes a big event to really spur things again. Back then it was a combo of Napster going away, filesharing apps typical

The amount of stuff (personal preference) I have to disable in firefox such as Telemetry, Studies/Normandy, Pocket, Advertising and such makes LibreWolf worth it. I do keep a user.js around to speed things up when doing a new install,

Accidently dialing an non-local number for AOL ended up getting me banned from the family PC for a month. Long distance charges were expensive. (US) Then we were in Germany in the late 90s and even local calls cost money so one had to be wa

I regret getting rid of mine. Harder to find now, or 'pricey' on eBay compared to 10 years ago. I'll never forget the size of the cpus compared to others at the time. Running them in dual-cpu setups was fun also.
