I would really like to read the research backing that decline. It certainly feels right but I'm naturally skeptical of anything that smacks of "the good 'ol days."

Right! Knowing what "it depends" on is the essence of engineering.

Trying to search around that website, it's ironic how broken it is. :-) Solid implementation beats lofty design maybe?

I found the most insightful idea in a comment at the very bottom: "A user’s perception of a product is what causes him to purchase it and influences his satisfaction with the product..." If users prefer to use the keyboard, they&#

No kinda about it. The cost savings is huge. I'm cheering for the bean counters to overrule the PHBs on this one.

What if I don't want to follow the specialization trend to it's logical conclusion? I think there is a cost to personal well being that's not being considered here.

My guess would be that the rail line would need entirely new right of way which would radically increase the variability of the cost and may result in it being down right impossible. (Speaking as someone who closely watched the drama around

I've been using Debian and KDE | xfce | i3 (depending on machine and task) as my main desktop and laptop operating system for 2+ years. Once I learned how to install wifi firmware I haven't had any hardware issues. And it runs mu

I've been curious about esperanto for a long time and in the midst of serious study of design so was pretty excited to see the intersection here... Unfortunately this just seems to be some kind of logo. Looks nifty. But the meaning is

I dunno. I've got a 15 year old toaster with a bimetallic thermostat. Still works fine. Maybe everything doesn't have to be "smart"?

I think you misread: In the beginning, we’ll only allow companies to add paid extensions. There’s still some work to be done when it comes to automation of the publishing process and the financial process. Our goal is to make the necessary

I had a TI-89 in school because having CAS in your pocket was just plain awesome. Besides, it was much cheaper than mathmatica. Interestingly once I got into higher level[1] stuff the abilities of your calculator were of much less importanc

CRTs had way better contrast and brightness than the early LCDs. And since CRTs don't excite phosphors on black pixels you could literally extend the life of your monitor (and spare your eyeballs) by using dark mode.

For me, I'd rather brush up on my HTML and CSS than learn a new framework. So I coded a mockup webpage, google'd for responsive CSS layouts and tested on a few devices. Then a little python glue (which I enjoy hacking with) to tur
