I’m kinda busy to go all into this, but generally people who went to top schools and raise from top vcs gave very good outcomes. The problem is when you lump in people with bad or mediocre career outcomes who try to start a company. The dat

I used to work in investment research in NYC. So I know those types, but the vibe was the same. Maybe I’ve been lucky, but a lot of people I know actually have had startup success. I know a few people that ended up making over 25 million by

I think there’s a different reason, companies just aren’t paying enough. Wages, even at 150-200k just really aren’t that much. 200k now is a lot less than 200k in 2010. The younger generation intuitively knows this. I don’t know anyone jock

The horror of prisons is tied just as much to the people that occupy them. If there wasn’t so much violence in prison, it would be easier to create a better living environment.

For years I’ve seen these hype Julia articles. Yet, out of all the open source, all the companies I’ve worked for, I’ve never come across any valuable system running Julia. I’ve never needed open source and found that only Julia serves the

Commoditization of deep learning models and maturity of architectures that remove the need for expert tuning. NLP will see the most progress, with things like question answering becoming more automated. No true conversational ability, as th

Basically the me too movement and the way in which men cannot defend themselves from sexual accusations back fired. Very predictable that this happened, there’s no easy solution.

Yup. My opinion has long been that the only thing that will take down google is a massive increase in NLP, such that the historical click data can be outperformed by a straight up really good NLP model

Just put 50k in TQQQ and walk away. Come back in a decade. Last decade it returned 70x. Likely that won’t happen again, but Id bet my life it goes up at least 15x. Just leverage the index.

Leverage the index is just a dumb strategy that works. If you bought TQQQ ten years ago, you made more than 70x your money. I bet you the next ten will also see wild returns. I used to work in finance. I’m sorry that you’ve been reading tha

Enough of this nonsense. Plenty of people make money. Apply leverage to the SPY, your returns wildly outpace index returns
