Got an email from BosiDNA but had no idea where it was from. Now I know. I got a spam phone call too, which may or may not have been from cofounderslab selling my data.

How has your startup benefited from being in SV? And how much more benefit has that been over your old location?

I admire your enthusiasm. However, I'm not sure what your idea does that facebook doesn't do. Most people understand how to use facebook already; it's not complicated even for grandmas. edit: if you want to discuss more shoot me an email (i

Yea, if you venture outside the HN/500startups tech ecosystem, you notice that there are many, many companies working on the same problems that YC companies are attempting to solve. They just don't get any recognition on HN, which is a litt

It takes a special kind of person, or a fanatical belief in yourself or the product/company, to handle rejection after rejection after rejection. Supreme confidence in the company and the ability to channel that confidence to investors can

Just because you work more hours doesn't mean you are contributing more value to the company. That said, if you really do contribute 70% of the value into the company in it's early stages I might discuss with the cofounder a 70/30 split in

I'll check it out, thanks. At first glance I'm wondering why I can't filter by locale. It reads more like a travelogue website than one that can help me immediately.

The Travel Site I want is a mixture of wikitravel and tripadvisor, only updated more often and not so narrow. By narrow I mean that users on a site only go to restaurants that are mentioned on the site, potentially missing some hidden gems

"The Lord of the Rings trilogy had a budget of $281 million and in many ways was a big of a gamble as any Venture Backed Company." Not really. Lord of the Rings was an established brand before the movies with a fervent fan base.

To be fair, this is simply a contrast in different pedagogical approaches to the first Intro CS Class. You learn the hows and whys in later MIT courses when you cover binary and C.

Yes, the knowledge acquired is assumed :) but really, I've realized there's no difference between MOOC and self-studying a textbook if the MOOCs don't provide credit.

You still need to join a University for the credit to be worth something. So maybe students will be able to transfer in many credits, kind of like APs. FWIW, my state school requires 45 credits to be taken at the Uni for a bachelor's in CS

I've just finished Udacity CS101 and am about to finish edX 6.00x (both are intro to cs courses). I've done a lot of thought and research into MOOCs and normal CS bachelor's programs. Initially I was really excited about getting a CS BS for
