Technical analysis is a basket of heuristics. Support / resistance / breakout (especially around whole numbers) seems to reflect persistent behavior rooted in human psychology. Look at the heavy buying at the $30 mark here, puttin

Kelly’s indignant attitude and commitment to “engineering excellence” suggest a bright future for Zig. It’s good to see the leader of a technical project get angry about mediocrity.

A “pretrained” ResNet could easily have been trained through a supervised signal like ImageNet labels. “Pretraining” is not a correlate of the learning paradigms, it is a correlate of the “fine-tuning” process. Also LLM pretraining is unsup

It’s hard to control the narrative when people can say what they want on the internet, anonymously, without being punished for it.

IBM and Nvidia speech to text models are also SOTA (according to HF leaderboard) and relatively lightweight. Replicate hosts those too, although some (like Parakeet) run easily on consumer GPU.

>As the model get's more powerful, you can't simply train the model on your narrative if it doesn't align with real data/world. That’s what “AI alignment” is. Doesn’t seem to be hurting Western models.

I like Michael Hudson's answer: repress financial rent-seeking. Inequality is driven by rents that siphon wealth from the productive economy. Therefore: nationalize natural monopolies and destroy monopolies of privilege.

In the 90s I knew families who’d buy bags of McDonald’s $0.29 hamburgers (I think the special sale day was Wednesday) and live on that for the rest of the week.

You summed it up nicely. Suggests that the people in power are really just flying by the seat of their pants.

Web based gaming has a bright future. Why pay a distributor if you can just host your game on the web? Pretty good cross platform compatibility…

It’s the same as nostalgia for the 1950s. People don’t want to live in an economic zone, they want to live in a stable community.
