I think with the shell you have to adapt your abstractions to the "unix-way". For example, a queue to process will be a directory with N files, and each file can be processed in pararell by just something like "for f in dir&#

In the general case I'm with you, but I think !strcmp is a very common idiom that makes me(and most C programmers) go "string equality". There is also the streq(a, b) camp that #define streq !strcmp.

Oh, the EDIT wasn't targeted to you especifically, more of a general thing. I agree with you, but I found the first comment misleading, thus my heated response. By meaningless I meant regarding the "feel" that you get as a ci

You are full of crap. The seventh world economy in the terms you are refering to is meaningless. By your logic, is Brazil welthier than Switzerland or Netherlands? NOT even close. GDP is MEANINGLESS if you really want to know how the averag

I know it's a generic statement. My point is that Intel, the most important chip vendor in the world, knows very well how to make ICs. If they know how to make the best desktop and server CPUs, it's only a matter of will and time

I really think they are going to come up with something to get into the mobile/embedded market. It is a very important market. With their experience, fabrication process and tech they can totally rip the competence.

Nothing usually prevents you using the preprocesor and the running your code through cpp before running/compiling in most languages.

IMO it is usefull to have the "return result paradigm". You can do things like: bar(foo(x, y)) and chain function results. Notice how this applies to strcpy: char *heap_ptr, *stack_ptr; ... fn_needs_heap_ptr(strcpy(heap_ptr

Still, what you are doing is inherently racy. The very moment you pass the PIDs to your program, they can already be gone and reused. You can end up kill()ing a different PID. I don't think you can use this for anything serious. In wha

It should not be very hard to fork gcc and make a quick hack that dumps the AST. You don't need the latest optimizations or AST versions, just a correct one, so there is no need to update it a lot (sans fixing bugs you created with the
