Backwards compatibility was never a technical problem, the JVM can support heterogeneous programs written in multiple languages out of the box. As long as it all compiles down to class files everything can interoperate seamlessly. Strong-ty

The Java people have always been very reluctant to add new features because they wanted to keep the language clean and simple, a design choice that personally I think is superior to 'rich' grammars like that of C++, Python, and C#. How many

People always forget about battery life. It's nice to have a device with good numbers, but if it can't hold a charge for longer than two hours it's pretty useless.

I'm also a Reddit refugee, which has been taken over by troll, derp, meme, and pun. I've seen this so many times before, though. It's one of the basic rules of the internet; every community will converge to 4chan. Hell, even 4chan couldn't

Here's a related paper from 2003 called 'Capriccio: Scalable Threads for Internet Services'. It uses call graph analysis to figure out where to place checkpoints that allocate and deallocate stack frame chunks. http://ece.ut.ac.ir/Classpag

People have attempted to make C memory safe (i.e. bitc, cyclone), so you could write an OS in that, I guess. My original point however was that C itself is not, and that supporting C means supporting non-memory safe drivers, services, and p

The problem with C is that it's not memory safe. Therefore you need hardware hacks (MMU) to separate processes. If you use a memory safe language you lose the ability to do pointer arithmetic (and the speed hacks that come with it), but you
