Seattle is soulless according to you? I’ve lived in Seattle and worked for Amazon when the headquarters was in a creepy old hospital up on beacon hill, and yes there has been change in Seattle, most of it for the better. Anyone that tells

Why? One "sysadmin" who can write software can manage far more machines than one who can't. Source: started my career as a Solaris Sysadmin with a CS degree.

I disagree, if you had the work ethic, you could study for a year on leetcode.com, and have a hell of a good chance at landing a FAANG job. Just practice those types of problems, apply to a bunch of different companies, do the phone screens

I blame government for laws that forbid students erasing these loans in bankruptcy, and for backing so many loans and grants in the first place. If there was an actual market, banks giving loans would do due diligence and provide loans only

This is true for EC2, but not at all for S3, which has always been developed in Seattle.

I'm not disagreeing with you, but what is the line of which workers to tip? Gas station employees do a similar job, and I have never seen anyone tip them. I have very rarely seen anyone tip a Subway sandwich worker even though they t

I see your point, but what’s weird is Twitter is banning these accounts and the press is freaking out about it. Why not let these npc memers continue to self own? Why interrupt your enemy while he’s making a mistake?

I'm curious what you think about the cake shop denying service to a gay couple? Is that ok since they are free to create their own non-bigoted cake shop?

It's one thing to say such things in private over a beer, or even say something dumb on Twitter, but it's a real escalation to e-mail the person directly, with maps of pre-schools in the area, saying they are going to kill his kid

Not only are tech salaries lower, the tech in Germany is shockingly bad. The mechanical engineering is world class, but try to buy a ticket online for the amazing train system, and it feels like using an Airline website from the 90s.

Google employees practically rioted when they found out their employer was trying to get a contract with the American Government, but will just cash their RSUs when they help the Chinese government censor its citizens. Sad.
