Hi HN, I wanted to share how long and what it took for me to build a project to a MVP. Feel free to ask me any questions, thanks!

My whole family enjoyed Luca FWIW.

You left out Amazing acquiring IMDB in 1998! Hasn't changed much since then. Likewise woot.com in 2010.

If this is America, it would be the FBI who has jurisdiction. If this was outside America, CIA would be more likely to be installing hardware on a vehicle. If you hear the guys breathing on your phone line, that's probably the NSA ;)

Fraud just shifts to pretending to be or fraudulently obtaining citizenship. It’s amazing people here saw what happened during covid payments and raid, waste, and abuse and think that they want more of that.

Thanks for your picture, I was way more outraged about this before seeing it. Seems relatively easy and safe to remove the top part of a bridge that is unused, and was built in 1927. I was imagining a stone bridge built in the 1600s that

And yet, the Senate just passed firearm legislation with support of some Republicans. But you're right, why try?

As I understand it, at any point where the Democrats held the majority of the legislature (including now) they could have passed federal abortion legislation and this would be moot.

For sure, it's not for everyone, and I would encourage everyone at any job they interview for to also vet the people and team you are going to be working with. Ask them hard questions about performance, expectations and on call burden.

I worked at Amazon 8 years and it is very manager and team dependent on what your experience is. I got to work on S3 and Alexa, and have no regrets. I learned so much, had a bunch of fun and worked with really smart people. Got paid well

The term you are looking for is Span of Control. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Span_of_control

I’m pretty sure I’ve gotten counterfeit polo and Levi clothes from Amazon, but they are good enough that it’s hard to tell other than they seemed to wear out faster.

Ok, when this issue was escalated did that team get paged in to work on a potential data loss issue? If not, I’m concerned. I’ve worked at storage at scale too, and this is standard practice.

Excellent point on hardware support. I'm running several years old Xeon chips in my server, and ESXI is already complaining they might not be supported in a future release.

I run esxi on my (admittedly beefy), home server. It is a fantastic piece of software that can be completely controlled through a web browser. I can easily spin up a couple of VMs, interact with the install without having to use a remote

If you like the concept, definitely give Bridge Crew a try in VR. It's almost magical being on the bridge, and moving your hands to manipulate controls.

How do you suggest removing the barriers you describe? It's sensible and easy to remove barriers to trying out for the chess team, but removing all differences in time, energy and socioeconomic status seems much harder, and much easie

I am confused what you're saying. Let person A practice Chess 2 hours a day. Let person B practice Chess 2 hours a week. Person A makes the cut to join the high school Chess team, while Person B doesn't. Most people would say if b
