Part of the quote from Wikipedia says discipline "is usually understood to be synonymous with self control". I usually think of self-discipline and self-control as being different sides of the same coin. I think of self-discipline

When I saw this my first thought was to wonder whether it would be better to use this than to use Racket for systems/shell programming? The Racket documentation has a complete tutorial on using Racket for systems programming. Can anyon

You don't get to be an Ace by destroying tanks, or artillery, or other ground threats. You get to be an Ace by defeating another pilot in a dogfight. That's why the Air Force is reluctant to support the A-10. They want to put all

I remember when CDs first came out and Neil Young was very critical of their sound, and I believe he was entirely justified in his criticism. When they first came out CDs were Record Company's poor stepchildren, and they were treated v

From a quick look at the photographs it appears that you have to lift up the entire device to flip the pages, then set it back down again on the book. My first thought is that that would become fatiguing very quickly. Most of the other DIY

I read the original Limits to Growth and it's just as scary now as it was then. Especially this line "The most probable result will be a rather sudden and uncontrollable decline in both population and industrial capacity."

The poster is describing the kind of photography which often includes shooting things with a gun (in this case an air pistol). I had to laugh when I read this line: "My target backstop is an old O’Reilly programming book."

I suspect that this is not actually UPS asking these questions. I believe that this is a third party identity verification service that uses publicly available information to confirm that you are who you say you are. My credit union does so

It's not really Sublime Text giving away the licenses. At the bottom of the page "Sublime Text is not affiliated with the giveaway." Seems like just a way to harvest email addresses.

Several of the DIY tDCS plans specify using a 9 volt battery because of its built in current limiting. A 9 volt battery applied to the typical resistance can't provide more than a few milliamperes of current. You don't have to wor

The last release of Strongtalk was in 2006. What advantages does this language provide over other versions of Smalltalk that have been updated more recently? (For example, GNU Smalltalk was updated a year ago.)
