Ever since Sora I've been thinking about the overall death of the internet "content". It all came back stronger with Meta Movie Gen. I know there are no girls on the internet, but this AI crap is on another level. Even if fin

A feature request: Protein per calorie? I try to balance cost with calories, some food have 30g of protein but in 200 calories, and others in 500 calories (because of extra fat/carbs). Would be nice to have this as a filter too!

I've read that too, but you can counter that by having a more diverse plant based protein sources.

For 13 years I drove stick and for 18 years I drove without a backup camera. Nowadays I don't turn around and look back. Automatic and camera are so much better.

Good question, took me a while to figure out why I preferred over Copilot. Number one was the "apply" suggestions from chat, but now I think Copilot has it too. Number two are the suggestions while I am typing to change multiple l

Unrelated, but has Cursor achieved this kind of mind share? Last week, I heard about a company (I think it was an YC company) describing themselves as "open source Cursor". Also last week, a comment here on HN stuck with me: "

If we're gonna play Reductio ad absurdum my question is, if someone whispers "online gambling" to a friend, should they be put to death?

OpenAI could have also figured out the average number of extra output tokens, and put a markup in overall API costs. As a user, I wouldn’t care either, because the price would mostly be the same.

Use ChatGPT or Claude for your day to day questions, technical or not. You'll quickly figure out in which areas using Google is still better. ChatGPT can probably do more than you think and handle more complex request than you're

Yes. It's a gift, not a donation. You can't write off $10 to the homeless. In the giver's mind it's a donation but not technically afaik.

I do remember the day I learned my company was supposed to get permission, because the logo there implies official endorsement. I just didn’t know. I would start with Hanlon’s Razor, with a 10% chance of malice.

Just got be careful with the “how to improve” part. In my experience as an interviewee sometimes it becomes a regular algorithmic interview. A couple times I found some N+1 queries or inner loops and was asked to “fix it”, which might just

I’ve watched a few YouTube videos of people with their eyes covered listening to acoustic guitars, and they try to pick which one is more expensive. Some after a few picks can even tell the brand and model. It’s pretty remarkable.

In the “Measure What Matters” book the author talks about investing in Google in early 1999, and the founders were indeed projecting billions of dollars in revenue, using ads.

I am not sure we’re having fewer megacorps as technological progress marches on. We probably have bigger companies with broader influence now than 50 or 100 years ago, right?
