You missed the obvious: using OAuth2 without TLS =) And paranoid part of my brain suggests that using OAuth1.0a is still preferred even if over TLS

Interesting, but seems to be applicable only to personal-information storage. Sharing data between groups of users is a different story and would require something like pgp-style key management on client

not really. they won't be able to publish product which incorporates GPL library without releasing this product under compatible license. they can use and patch GPL product internally as long as they want.

ok. I listened video and looks like it will be decentralized and it might work. we still need till they come out with protocol spec, but such thing _can_ be implemented.

imo.im and similar services have one disadvantage: you give keys to all of your communications to additional 3rd party (as if microsoft wasn't enough)
