Yes, Wizardry was the first game to ship that was written in Pascal UCSD if I recall correctly. The boot sequence was pretty unmistakable (clear screen, switch to 80 columns, cursor in the upper left corner) but quite novel at the time. Her

Another interesting side effect of Apple DOS is the extraordinary fertile ground it created for software companies to copy-protect their applications. Piracy was already a big deal back then and pretty much every single software publisher o

Blame the FBI? How is it the FBI's fault that this particular iPhone was not secure? It's mystifying to me how far Apple advocates will go to not blame their favorite company.

I really find this whole thing hilarious. First, it's Apple sticking it to the FBI by making a stand for privacy and receiving public accolades doing so as a champion of privacy. The FBI is the bad guy trying to invade our privacy. Now

There are not really comparable. The value of an email service is how many users it has. The value of a big database is... who knows? If Google one day decides the content of that database is a strategic asset, they might just as well decid

Sure, but at least, auto completion works automatically. With dynamically typed languages, you get cryptic (and vague) errors and auto completion just can't work.
