What if they told you their products are so fast they don’t need a total bandwidth?

That’s fair, and I happen to agree with you. I just don’t think this particular concern is realistic given some very basic regulations in place.

So lets get this straight. The whole world of heroin addicts will flood to Norway, but then the people nearest to Norway (who likely don't have to fly) are going to be impacted by this illegal trade? Selling something that is free is n

Or treat it like methadone where you must consume it on site. Not that hard.

If I recall correctly, the Canadian equivalent has a longer term rehab upstairs from the area where the drugs are given out. The staff makes people aware it’s an option. People who may otherwise never interact with medical professionals.

Ok got it. Then I’ve misread what you’re trying to say. For what it’s worth I completely agree.

Simply read what you wrote. No serious person defends a position like this: 'China is a sovereign nation and has every right to Govern itself the way it wants to.' Rather than taking the human rights abuses seriously, you continua

No the question was whether or not national sovereignty justifies criminal behavior. You made the ludicrous point that China's national sovereignty gives them the right to commit human rights abuses, and I merely pointed out that your

Ignoring how ethically insane it is to justify human rights abuses under the guise of national sovereignty, this same sovereignty would allow the US to cease trade relations.

That’s interesting you say that. I’ve known two engineers who worked at JPL and they said that no teams did anything close to formal verification. It’s an incredibly difficult bar to meet

I think this idea is really interesting. Perhaps Seattle is temperate enough, but a backup AC system may make sense. You’d still get the energy savings for at least some percent of the year.

I find this stuff fascinating but so much of it went over my head. Can anybody point me in the right direction to read more about the relevant topics? Is this standard material in compiler design, or another related field?

As much as I agree, let’s obviously not judge people based on accents, I find this a bit ridiculous. I can’t help but raise an eyebrow at the idea of visiting let’s say France, completely butchering pronunciations, and then claiming that an

Why stop there? I don’t think Native Americans lived in log cabins. Antibiotics and modern medicine should undoubtedly be cast to the trash heap as well. I can’t help but feel like simply limiting screen time is the solution here...

My impression here is that intelligent people tend to over complicate this distinction. Consciousness is what separates you from a rock. It’s the fact that you have an inner life at all. That the world shows up for you. The points you make

I'd take your argument further even. We could be mistaken about every experience we've ever had. Let's take the brain in a vat example, in which none of our sensory experiences accurately model reality. This has no bearing on

I'd argue that any such mapping of inputs and outputs, (fully mapping our mind) would equally describe to a system that is not conscious. In other words, the whole analysis could as well be describing a zombie that behaves like us but

I've always felt that Dennett has side stepped the question here. The 'hard problem' here is to explain how a set of physical processes give rise to consciousness or sensory experience at all. In other words, why the lights a
