That's precisely why I sometimes use it. And that running code through another compiler can sometimes highlight issues that went previously unnoticed.

One thing that was sad was to see how ugly the forking situation got: http://www.landley.net/code/tinycc/ When I was using tcc a lot I used the tinycc fork as it had fixed bugs I was encountering. It's a shame that things didn't work out

I'll have to try this. I have tried http://pasky.or.cz/~pasky/dev/retty/ before, with limited success. It would reattach a terminal running vim, but not Matlab, and was generally a bit flakey. EDIT: I have now tried neercs. Like retty, vi

Just embed CPython... I imagine that, from a security standpoint, embeding CPython in a browser would be pretty hairy.

there's no way to enlarge those darn screenshots so you can actually see something! Actually there is because they are full-resolution images displayed at less than their true resolution (one of my pet peeves): Firefox: right-click ->

Erm, not really. Compiler cache saves compiled versions of files. When building a large project it notices things that have been built before and looks up the compiled code from a central cache. If you have to do a "make clean" (e.g. some s

I don't use any flash applications that I want to store anything. In the past (in linux) I did: rm -Rf ~/.macromedia && touch ~/.macromedia which stopped flash creating the ~/.macromedia directory and being able to store anyt

Google released a trillion-word corpus with frequency counts for all sequences up to five words long... contains...all sorts of other errors...But the fact that it's a million times larger than the Brown Corpus outweighs these drawbacks.

This was a linux laptop. I immediately powered off and booted with a live CD. To be honest I'm not sure exactly what I did next. I might have just done "less -f /dev/sda5". I think what I actually did was make an image of the partition usin

Having once managed to delete a file with hours of edits just before committing to version control, I opened my 60 GB partition in vim, found the text of the file and copied it out. While this is "stupid" — there will be better ways to do i

For those that haven't been following UK politics, the UK's first ever televised prime ministerial debate was in mid April. Many of the dramatic changes in the graphs result from the Liberal Democrats doing well out of that encounter.

Except when your friends do. And except when it changes. I have lost count of how many times I have had to go in and rejig my privacy settings and how many times Facebook have very slightly reduced what you can stop from leaking out.

I think it's time for me to start running Facebook in a separate browser session. I'm sick of trying to keep track of the moving target of what Facebook will and won't leak to other sites.

This is clearly how hiding http:// should be done (if at all). Playing tricks with the clipboard is going to be confusing and frustrating to use. It is also suggested in other comments here; I hope the Chrome devs pick this up.

I agree with using /bin/bash if that's what you're actually using and aren't sure the script will work more generally. Something that can help pin down usage of bash extensions is checkbashisms (in the devscripts package on Debian systems).

Not sure why the parent was downvoted. It's a perfectly reasonable criticism of the editorialized title of the submission. The actual article uses "associated with an increase" rather than "increases".
