Hm, looks like you are right. At least the new timeline is server-side rendered. I guess they are updating parts of UI to be rendered on the server to be faster. Interestingly some websites like GitHub are doing the opposite: they are slowl

The roadmap of Meteor includes "Server-side rendering" planned after 1.0. https://trello.com/c/Lz07fBAm/7-server-side-rendering In my opinion, server-side rendering is a bit overrated since Google know

Great to see CodeFights being launched! I enjoyed the graphics and dynamics of MathFights.com as well, well done, Tigran and the team.

Hey Show HN, I built this over 1 weekend and I am not a good front-end developer so it was a really interesting experience for me. What I like about this player is how the transcript is synchronized with slides and playback. The original ve

It says it is inspired by Bundler but in what ways? I am curious as I didn't use much of neither bundler nor goop but I have heard the constraints resolution lays in the heart of bundler.

Built-in notifications on writes are really cool! This is something Meteor had to implement on the application layer because MongoDB never supported it natively (and the oplog consumed by Meteor didn't really have enough context). Reth

Someone who has been participating in algorithm competitions like TopCoder or Codeforces would know this - compiler optimizers can have bugs pretty often. Usually on algorithmic programming competitions the tasks are very hard to come up wi

Not familiar with Datomic. Does it mean now you can reuse querying code on the server to real Datomic and on the client (in browser) to DatomicScript? If so, it could lead to some features like latency compensation and stubs similar to Mete

I watched several MOOCs and OCW courses but this one was the first and the best I've ever came across. Most of the MOOC videos are still boring and I need to speed them up to 1.25x but SICP was so great, I could spend hours talking to

Does it mean that, theoretically, Blaze will still outperform React on a long series of small quick updates conducted by a lot of disconnected events?

My point is: neither Event Reactor nor Actor model implementation are sufficient to make your database realtime (push updates to the application server). And the amount of work that was put into MongoDB actually doing it correctly and relia

Can Event Machine or Celluloid give me reactive updates from my database made by a different process or service (like some background task with message queue)? Or are you bringing those as alternatives to EventEmitter of node.js?

You can also paginate by `$gt` and `$lt` operators. For example, if you have a list of posts, they are probably displayed in some order on the screen. Most likely they are ordered by date. You can maintain the pagination by presenting all p

I didn't say it is SSR, but rather "renders a part of initial page on the server." I believe that it is acceptable for a chunk of data the client will use to render page to called a part of it.

If you look closer at FastRender: it only renders a part of initial page on the server. Thick client is sent with some prepared data and continues all further operations as it was a regular Meteor app. I think it is a great thing to impro

As a non-expert in programming languages I find this list a good starting point for learning: reading about each bullet point in Wikipedia might already be useful. And arguing on HN is not the single application of this knowledge.
