I think he just started with that assumption because that's what 538 did. His last analysis assumed one distribution, so my guess is he thought that might be more accurate. Although he didn't give data either way.

Thanks for the reply, but I still think there's a huge disconnect. First of all, you're admitting that it's okay for anonymous people to inflict a significant, measurable delay in page load time for my entire website. That is completely un

Wow, the recorder option sounds really cool. I didn't see that when I first scanned the site. Maybe highlight a bit more somewhere.

Like others have suggested, please require that before any testing. I like the concept of your site, but I really don't want people DOS'ing my site for any amount of time, even a few minutes. I know they can do it manually, but if you giv

It's probably best to talk to a lawyer. There will be paperwork at some point, but at least consult with one now so that you know exactly what you'll need to do and when. It could also be complicated because of your different countries.

The problem with that is that your search ranking for any given key word is probably different in each search engine.

Slightly off topic, but a good hacker TV show is "Big Bang Theory" on Monday nights on ABC. It's about 4 physics PhD students at Cal Tech. The best part is that they don't water down the physics at all. One guy got dumped by his girlfrien

Cool idea for stream of consciousness feedback. I think the OP can learn a lot from that.

Smart conversions. If I have a graph of something in Celsius, I have to copy the data, edit it, and create a new graph just to convert it to Fahrenheit. Same with any other unit of measurement. When I was an engineer my biggest gripe wit

I can confirm this. I am a web developer and the day after I updated my LinkedIn profile to reflect my new job they wrote a short article about my employer hiring me.

Same here. I don't spend any money on music and I'd gladly pay $10/month for pandora. I'd also tolerate audio advertisements. Not sure why they haven't at least tried increasing the level of advertising.

True. I guess I meant from just the Celtic's standpoint. They would have more of a right to get bostonceltics since that's probably their actual brand name. As someone else pointed out, the term celtics refers to more than just a basketba

The user name bostonceltics is taken by someone that is doing the same thing and using the Boston Celtics' logo for their icon. Seems like they would have been a better candidate to bully into moving their user name. http://twitter.com/bo

Thanks for pointing out my mistakes. I forgot about Google's share of the CPC. Duh. I was also misreading Google's traffic estimator. That exact phrase, "personal development" only receives 14,800 searches per month. Big difference.
