This is absolutely remarkable! I'm in awe of the whole thing, as is my father! Thank you so much. This kind of effort means so much to the both of us.

This is remarkably beautiful. Could you, perhaps, give some detail as to how it functions? I see wave propagation, but I'm interested in the state dynamics of a particular cell.

Now these are some cool resources! Thank you for providing them. I'm really starting to enjoy Joy, J, FP, and other languages based on a similar combinator-like basis. I'll have to read over Compiling to Categories, because that

That's pretty damning. Glad I never went to Snoonet. Something seemed off about the network as a whole, and it appears that my assumptions were correct...

I feel that way when people write anything in a functional programming language. "Here's this lovely new functional language!... written in Haskell, using Haskell's entire runtime as a basis."

I think you're right w.r.t re-usability, though I've found semi-Thue systems more useful for formulating Turing Machines in order to avoid shifting things around. The string can just expand as needed, though the complexity probabl

If you can't define an algorithm as a step-by-step process, what can you define it as? That's the whole point: it is a process, manifested as sets of discrete steps, towards an end result by following sets of rules. Lambda Calculu

The problem is all of this relies on a representation of the data structure you're manipulating. What exactly is the structure that a Lisp machine is manipulating? The basis of Lisp is the Lambda Calculus, and a generalization of that

Here's a test: do you think in terms of step-by-step instructions to solve a process? There are ways of composing Turing Machines much like composing functions to yield higher abstraction levels in the Lambda Calculus. It comes in the

You really don't understand computability at all, do you?

I'm sorry, but unless you produce a proof of hypercomputation with models that have unbounded determinism, you're a crank.

Because the Lambda calculus is, in large part, rather messy to implement when it comes to physical computing. When we look at what computation is, physically, we find it's a lot like a Turing machine underneath (physical rewriting syst

Actor systems are no more able to handle uncertainty than Turing Machines are, either via nondeterministic TMs or by deterministic TMs. This is basic computability theory.

Jessica's actions were disgusting. There is no excuse for this behavior, and it's just pandering towards gender issues to disguise and sweep away her attack on somebody offering feedback. Polygon is not an unbiased source. https:

this doesn't work in Chromium 66.0.3359.117. I imagine it must be something wrong with the underlying emulator, but there's no audio output. visuals work, but not much else, which is sad for this bit of interesting code!

how did this make the front page? it's a demonstration of returning a struct by value... how is this... 1. multiple return values? 2. costing one "weird input parameter"? 3. worthy of a front-page mention?

interesting. so it stores everything as triples, much like RDF? I wonder what he means by 'blobs'. if he just means every element of the triple can be an arbitrary binary blob, that's kind of cool.
