The primary definition of underground means hidden, but most of the secondary definitions apply here. adj. 3a: existing outside the establishment, as in "an underground literary reputation" n. 3c: an unofficial, unsanctioned, or i

Back when this all started, there was a word for people who insist on interacting with others while wearing tech on their face: glasshole. The message it sends is, "You're not worth me putting my screen down for a minute to have a

The linked talk video mentioned they're playing with it in jemalloc and tcmalloc. I found this https://github.com/jemalloc/jemalloc/issues/1440 but couldn't find tcmalloc doing similar. These guys a

Everything about the mission provided valuable data: especially that damaged blade. Failure modes are useful. Next, it might be useful to try flying anyway. If not, they still have running cameras, sensors and computer, until Perseverance

Why would there be wear in metal? Maybe from hands over years? The peg spacing is a very good point and maybe the disqualifier. I'm very dubious about the knitting claim. Woven textiles seem to go back 27,000 years. Knitting is just we

The door plugs are regular windows with a little different bezel and they put a seat row right there. I think there was a young passenger on the Alaska flight: his shirt got sucked off and his mom was helping hold him in his seat. https:&

Something changed in the last few years. Maybe someone has a word for this? One revenue stream is not enough now, for anyone. You can't sell a widget. It seems shareholders now demand you maximize: * original sale of hardware, some

So many different ways to die in a submarine, so many failure modes. It's one thing to solve all the engineering problems you can identify. It's another to learn from all the failure modes everyone else has encountered.

I'm a little baffled by the sampling problem. Is a few second small clip of something really representing some sea of lost income damage for the original? Or is it more like femto-dollars per viewing and they want it accounted for?

It's not an implementation detail if you can't do recursion in constant stack space. The underlying VM should allow all CS primitives, and the guest can add constraints as it wants.
