Also, from my understanding, the burnout did not seem to stem from the actual work but more from interpersonal relations and disagreements. I am certain that is not uncommon

Having dealt with the pain and complexity of a 100+ lambda function app for the last 4 years, I must say this post definitely hits the spot wrt. the downsides of FaaS serverless architectures. When starting out, these downsides are not real

Sure. As long as I don’t have to deliver (all) my private data to get those relevant ads.

I work most days in the office. By choice. That is the important part. I have the flexibility to work wherever I want, no questions asked, no one keeping track. All asked, is that I get shit done and show up to our very infrequent in-person

Huh. Guess I will stop donating to Wikimedia. Not that I don’t support those causes. I just thought my money went to maintaining Wikipedia.

I understand it like this: the author is sorry he had to fork the project instead of supporting the main project. But also sorry that he saw no other option.

I like the idea of ResGen. But I think you should consider changing your pricing. 10 free resumes per month seems too generous. Also, $7 is very low for a paid plan, when your users are likely to churn as soon as they find a job. If this to

From my experience with Shopify customer service, I would say firing them all sounds like a great idea. Let’s free up some humans for other tasks. They weren’t performing the previous tasks that well anyway.

I switched from unstructured Trello / OneNote / Notepad notes to Joplin 4 years ago. I sync it through cloud between mobile, desktop and laptop. It is simply awesome. One of the most important tools I use everyday.

Not sure about GP - but in my country they teach the 9 and 3 position when you take your license. I’ve always thought 10 and 2 was an American thing.

So what if he over-engineered his blog? Siblings are missing the point here: 1) maintaining stuff is a pain in the ass, 2) it can still be very fulfilling.

I developed a Shopify app that solves a niche problem. It has grown slowly over 4 years. Current income at 80k/year with relatively low maintenance. I have a full time job as a software engineer on the side.
