GPG lost, TLS won. Both are actually webs of trust with the same underlying technology. But they have different cultures and so different shapes. GPG culture is to trust your friends and have them trust their friends. With TLS culture you t

Yes so it's basically asking whether that probability distribution is 50/50 or not. And it turns out that it's sometimes very skewed. Which is a non-obvious result.

Chatgpt got very sycophantic for me about a month ago already (I know because I complained about it at the time) so I think I got it early as an A/B test. Interestingly at one point I got a left/right which model do you prefer, wh

I actually disagree with that. Decompilation based mods can completely change anything and everything about the game. Scripting based mods can only change things within the boundaries allowed by the devs of the original game.

You can state the argument formally as A has property B. Property B' implies property C. Hence A has property C. The fallacy is the sleight of hand where two almost but not quite identical properties B and B' are used, in this cas

What about convergent evolution? Are you ruling that out because you reason that there are many possible structures that could do the same job so it's too much of a coincidence how close it matches?

My thinking disagrees with yours, but I can't say I have fully made up my mind yet. To me a compiler that is not "exploiting UB" has several valid choices about how to compile this. i may be stored in memory, in a register or

Comdemning evil is an act with many purposes. Making the evil-doer change his mind is just one of possible benefit. Even if that is unlikely the other ones remain. * People naturally imitate what they see others do. A condemnation can preve
