Where I'm from (idk about elsewhere) pasteurized and homogenized milk is labelled as such. It is not something companies try to hide from consumers and it is not something consumers try to avoid. That's how I think it should work.

I had never heard about gene drive before. It refers to making sure all children (and grandchildren etc) inherit a trait, even though the trait isn't necessarily evolutionary beneficial for the organism. The way this is implemented in

C's rand() is typically poor as well. Thought it was par for the course for builtin rng to be somewhat shitty, but maybe other languages stack up better?

>Censorship isn't about total, fool-proof access limits. It's about trivial inconveniences. That's because we have won a partial victory. They would very much like a total, fool-proof access limit.

Imagining the consumer reaction to green-glow-in-the-dark crops made me smile.

I associate neat with two expressions: "neat and tidy", and "that's (pretty) neat" (positive exclamation about a way of doing something, or a solution to a problem)

Fast hash functions can be really important for performance of hash sets and maps. In my experience high speed is more important than a low collision rate. That was for primitive types, it may well be different for types where comparison is

I think you misunderstand his point. He is saying that 1. if there is no free will then choices (and bad choices in particular) have to come from somewhere else. 2. that something is either unfortunate genetics or an unfortunate environment

Java has a nice solution: An ArrayList<Ellipse> is an ArrayList<? extends Shape>. But it is also an ArrayList<? super Circle>. The former is "read-only" (can read elements which are all guaranteed to be shapes).

I assume you are an xmonad dev? I use it and I really like it. Could I ask you to look into the focus/unfocus loop issue?

I guess you give the same amount of kickers to every employee. Wont the kickers then be too diluted to be worth anything? I haven't done the math, just a feeling.

First: Very nice site, good job! I think you should remove the bubble sort snippet. A newbie may use it verbatim without realizing there are better algorithms. It may be good to give an example of RAII that protects a resource other than me

I am in a problem solving mood. Termination can be proved for finite graph with sink as: For every grain, compute its distance to the sink along the shortest route. For grains that entered the sink, use 0. Sort the values and put them in a
