You can rent but not own one in London which is bizarre. Random person on scooter they don’t own is safer to TFL.

Wait until you see all the empty high rises sold to overseas investors lying empty. Like a ghost town around nine elms.

I needed an Oracle test database lately to try and get "off" Oracle and they came in and did a licence review. Ended up having to pay £1m due to some legacy non-compliance and couldn't even afford the test DB anymore.

"A car-wash manager in Alabama can now earn $125,000, about 50 per cent more than the head of cyber security at the UK Treasury" A bit off-topic but this sums up low-wage Britain pretty well right now. Your tiny house costs £1 mil

A side effect too is it becomes much harder to manage focus. 30 mins at 1, 2, and 3 turn 1hr 30 of meetings into at least 3 hours wasted on conference calls. I've taken to hiding my calendar and not turning up if someone does some inef

I think the perceived laggard side is less enthused to engage in the debate. On lots of public forums, there will be plenty of characters telling you to use Rust/Crypto/Serverless/AI for everything. Fair enough, they are cool

These articles are usually pretty honest and non-controversial but bring out all the AWS brainwashed "Cloud Transformation" consultants. They cling to a set of vendor principles drummed into them and can't seem to view other

I hate how I got rid of TikTok because of the addictive short form content and now I find myself somehow in Instagrams short form content. Now YouTube are also doing it. These companies are just selling attention crack disguised as "cr

I currently binge on realtor training videos. Cold calling, raw procrastination, it's got it all. I don't think I'd ever want to do it but it's a great place to learn motivation.

All these fintechs are trying to move into each other's areas. We're not money transfer, we're a bank! Oh, and we do crypto. Does anyone want to buy shares? Mortgages anyone? Let's sell our technology back to the banks!

This was a really interesting article on how consultants "jam-up" government projects and prevent in-house expertise/efficiency develop. https://www.ft.com/content/fb1254dd-a011-44cc-bde9-a434e5a09...

Can they be joined by the agile project manager who insists that producing work on time is "not agile"? In fact, being asked to do anything is "not agile". I feel like we have a good starter for a sitcom here.

The government can step in to fund areas that shouldn't be a free-for-all market. Parents struggling to pay for childcare is the government saying a parent's job is to stay at home if they can't cover childcare. It's a b

I reckon most people WFH around London are in comfortable but not exciting/high-earning positions. Expensive housing/transport demands higher wages and challenging work. I pay for my own co-working space now (I need to work around

That is an amazing article and thanks for sharing. I agree on investment failure and "cutting back" has resulted in a very divided and poor society in the UK. The country is now an inheritocracy (as written in the FT yesterday).

I worked in a UK government office once where they had stopped giving teabags to staff as a cost-cutting measure. The project was £50 million over budget. That's a lot of teabags.

The article reads like an internet doomsday prophecy but also, property will go up because the internet will get worse. That is just an odd take and maybe hints that this is a generated article itself.

Art NFTs seem legit. I like this piece of digital art, I pay in crypto for the piece. It's like an open art collection database. Is it a billion dollar opportunity, don't think so but I can understand the appeal.
