It kinda seems like your example says more about the specific behavior of the MacGPG installer than about the general reliability of macOS's package database.

Wow, I did not realize Activity Monitor did that. QuickTime Player seems to have lost its dynamic icon, though. I've gotten to the point where I don't even use the dock anymore, it just stays hidden. Quite a long way from the go

Reminds me of customizing WindowMaker's dock with system monitor widgets[1]. I wonder how quickly (or if at all) the macOS dock responds to changes to an app's icon... [1] https://www.dockapps.net/category/sys

It seems the huge and annoying "Why don't you join Github" banner is gone now, too. They must have eliminated the persistent cookie that clicking "Dismiss" presumably set. That banner was very frustrating for me,

I'm slightly surprised to not see any mention of materialized views. We're in the middle of a project in which we use file_fdw to provide an interface to CSV files which are replaced nightly, but we then also have indexed material

Interestingly, that cable seems to use a 3-conductor (TRS) 3.5mm connector as opposed the usual 4-conductor one found on EarBuds. So I guess that implies it doesn't carry mic input?

Ironically, coreutils introduced[1] a requirement to add `--no-preserve-root` to `rm -rf /` way back in 2003, so that particular example doesn't really support the counterpoint you're trying to make. EDIT: clarity [1]: https

PCH provides the infrastructure for Quad9...so I don't think it makes sense to say that Quad9 is "relaying" DNS traffic to PCH/WoodyNet. There isn't some organizational boundary that's being crossed.
