This isn't normal? ... f*ck. What kind of software job leaves you with enough mental energy at the end of the day to let you work and code on your own projects? (Serious question, I feel like it's either work or hobby for me!)

How about this: http://www.pulp-platform.org/ ? It still in development, but the plan is to release the full CPU. You still need process/foundry specific data of course (things like flash-cells).

We have a Makerbot Replicator 1 in our Makerspace and it actually works well and is very useful. But we modified it quite a bit (mainly with an enclosed and heated print volume and also a more sturdy build platform). A lot of the quality of

As soon as somebody figures out how to get the energy from the panels back to earth? Assuming we figure out how to economically put them there in the first place...

True. I alluded to that further down, as even with the perfect strategy this means that "it is theoretically possible that the goal state never happens", i.e. the probability that the algorithm will terminate will never be 100% (b

Ah, the Colored Hats is awsome (Haven't tried the other ones, thanks for those)! It gets even more interesting by using three colors instead of two. The solution stays the same in principle, but [guvaxvat zbqhyb guerr vf n ybg yrff boi

My sister's solution: Send the ring in a box with a combination lock ;) Edit: Ah, charlesdenaul already proposed that. You wouldn't need cryptography, as the problem doesn't state that the postal service also monitors the Int

To explain it in yet another way: As long as you maintain your height no energy is used for lift, as energy is equal to force integrated over distance. Like as standing on a table requires no energy ;) However, an airplaine isn't stand

Another interesting case apart from spaceflight where radiation hardness is important: Particle accelerators. CERN for example has a lot of material, a quick search leads to e.g. https://lhcb-elec.web.cern.ch/lhcb-elec/

Mostly, but there are always cases where this is not pratical. For example, the detectors at CERN (or any other particle accelerator probably) contain a lot of electronics (to capture and pre-filter the data) which cannot really be shielded
