It's interesting that Qwant never comes up in these discussions, they have their own engine and are privacy focused, looks very similar to Google but just never seems to be brought up?

I think it's because metric is logical, makes things easier to understand and is used practically everywhere except the US. English has been adopted as the international language (largely thanks to American TV, Movie and Music exports)
