I’ve never interacted with this person in particular, but your description makes me feel seen. It so perfectly describes interactions I’ve had - where a clearly well meaning and in some ways capable developer makes tons of change requests,

Very nice! Do you have any documentation for how to add another city or transit region? I work on some of the rust libraries you've used. If you'd like to ask questions about rust+geo or do a show & tell, consider joining us i

In some sense OSM is "just" the database — what things exist and where are those things. A mapping product like Google/Apple Maps includes a lot more functionality that often gets taken for granted. For instance: - A geocodi

To be honest, I haven't yet worked much with whitebox tools. But, to your point, I think pointing people to "next steps" is important, and guiding them to useful tools to solve their actual problems is part of that. If you ca

I think the idea is you only need 2 to achieve this new property of “avoiding unbounded growth”. You need the “one that is being written to” and the “other one which can be checkpointed into the main Db”. Reading between the lines a bit, I

SQLite has different “modes” to facilitate recovery, this new WAL2 mode addresses the problem in WAL (version 1) where the recovery log could potentially grow very large. It’s solving a real problem, but not considered stable for production
