Because of security and privacy probably. All those tracking scripts, advertisments and so on. Browsers do need this functionality for development purposes. Like checking how the website looks like for a search engine crawler.

I'm currently using gulp + browserify, it's basically the same set of features (modules, compilation, livereload), but free. Maybe a little more configuration necessary though.

I detect mobile devices on the server and simply disable web fonts for them. You just don't need all that stuff on mobile.

I am not fond of AngularJS myself, but this article is plain BS. How can you even compare jQuery and Angular? It's like comparing tomato to a shoelace. If you want to compare, compare it with something like Backbone.
