We don't shun bikers but we make them pay higher insurance premiums. They mainly endanger themselves anyway. If I take a very selfish viewpoint and I can choose between a collision with a biker vs a car driver I'll pick the one with the les

It is indeed difficult, I had evaluated mine based on the size of my previous postgres database and had greatly overestimated the size. Sadly I don't have my numbers from back then. It is especially difficult to evaluate since in Smalltalk,

So far it has been running off a 512 Megs slice on slicehost with memory usage below 260 megs. I have seen spikes at over 400 megs a while back but I have considerably modified my app since then. It is running NGinx, two instances of squeak

Excellent news. Since the standard way of working in GLASS is to persist sessions to the stone, the 4GB limit was always a worry in case I get a big peak in traffic.

There may be other problems with being too cheap. Sometimes there is a minimal cost threshold for something to be a project in large companies. If it is not an "official" project, it will lag. Another aspect of pricing too low is that if th

The real question for me is why so much 3D TV and more importantly, why now?? Are they only trying to make things more difficult to copy a movie? Or just another excuse to have people purchase new hardware as the cycle for HD is not even ov

The subject has already much discussed on HN. I don't see how making the association with the bubble sheds new light to the App phenomena. I doubt the comparison even applies, or if it applies you could put the label "bubble" to anything tr

The good thing about things like project Euler is that it makes you practice solving problems that are easily constrained. I would say most of the real problems you'll encounter day to day are often much simpler but are far more verbose. Th
