At least in germany we also refer to Epicureanism as "negative hedonism", i.e. finding the good life by becoming content with less and less, and then not saying "no" to stuff which is nice without any negative long term

I never look at the karma (consciously at least). However, I like the filtering effect that it has for the most part, if coupled with good moderation (r/askscience,r/askhistorians)

The thing is, time is money. Leisure time is one privilege of the rich, or lucky, which leads to unfair compounding advantages (like philosophy as well). "Normal" people (as in, if you selected them at random) don't have the

In Germany I've encountered that as simply "quiet". As long as you get the job done and can communicate enough to make the work efficient, no on the job socialising required, unless you want to quickly rise Through the ranks

As a "recovering" shy person, what helped me was the following Frame: we care. We really really care to get things right and we expect that others will have the same standards. This can apply to everything, be it professional, art

You are arguing against something I did not say. I never said we need to do it "at all costs right now so just fix this!!!". I am saying that I value the risk of human lives over the risk of some startups not being created. You di

What? No. If IoT (and important software in general) doesn't get some aggressive regulation, then people will die at some point. There were already cases where the heating went out in a whole town because of some connectivity issues
