Even before that cyberattack I was never able to get TfL online services working properly. Luckily it's not needed, you can just buy an Oyster from a corner shop and top it up at the machines in the station (all with cash if you'r

I think it's because the US has the clout to indirectly compel foreign institutions to cooperate in a way that other western countries can't. For example, for a US expat living in the UAE the various branches of the US government

It's definitely controversial and in the short term it's probably dwarfed by other factors (velocity of money and external factors), but it stands to reason that if M1 increases by 300% while population remains roughly static and

23 hour bang up isn't uncommon in the UK, mostly just because the prisons are overcrowded and underfunded and it's easier to keep things under control with everyone locked in their cells most of the time. There are legal minimums

I think the main issue is the DOM API is designed around JS. Running another scripting language with different semantics in the browser is trivial, having it interact with the page and do anything useful is not

I'm not actually a farmer I just grew up in the countryside, so I'm not sure, but I think with row crops slugs are less of an issue than vegetables, and they do use slug pellets if necessary. Pests, bad weather etc. are definitely

In the UK with arable you can potentially make money (although probably not), and it isn't a crazy amount of work. You plant crops in the autumn, spray them a couple of times, then it's too wet to get into the field and do anythin

Same in the UK, I find it kind of funny that some North American transport planners are starting to put roundabouts everywhere at the same time as they're being ripped out in London. They're still pretty much the default junction

I think current LLMs suffer from something similar to the Dunning-Kruger effect when it comes to reasoning - in order to judge correctly that you don't understand something, you first need to understand it at least a bit. Not only do L
