This is interesting and follows the line of [1]. Personally I find it more comfortable to use TeXmacs for quick/throwaway notes, and macros in longer documents for better readability. [1]: https://castel.dev/post/l

I was about to post the same thing. Self-organisation maps seem a classical computational model to me. If the author’s point was that computational models should be biologically plausible, there are many other examples as well. I’ve neve

The nice thing about the amortisation strategy is that you can e.g. exercise on the slow days, which improves your stamina and thus efficiency in the long run.

Maybe the problem is that you are not supposed to rely solely on hjkl for navigation? Not sure how others use it, but for me most of the navigation are performed with <C-d> / <C-u> / search (long range) or f, w, b etc

It's probably way easier to decide on a subject you want to learn more about, and find the most approachable textbook / lecture notes on e.g. StackExchange. It doesn't make sense to choose courses (or even subjects to learn)

This is not exactly my area of expertise, but seems the author should read Dawid, A. Philip. "The well-calibrated Bayesian." Journal of the American Statistical Association 77.379 (1982): 605-610. which explains how you should int

Content reflowing isn't easy for pdf files. Xodo has this functionality for years and it rarely get the line break right, so there is some use for ML in this. (Or do you happen to know a pdf reader that is better in this?)

You can't blame the TF people for things like while_loop. Those are inherited from Theano, and back then the dynamic graph idea wasn't obvious. JAX is indeed a different situation as it has a more original design (although TF1 cam

It depends on what kind of understanding you want to achieve. It can be helpful to think of DNN as approximating the corresponding infinitely-wide versions. Depending on how you deal with certain scaling, they then act like a linear filte

I appreciate the effort the authors put to this post, but this is like saying DNNs are stacked logistics regression: the connection is superficial, and doesn't lead to deep insights about how they really work.
