We have a pwa with pouchdb sync thousands handphones from couchdb every morning. Couchdb sync is great and pouchdb take care the db of whatever browser in your user phone. I could say we pick couchdb just because of their sync and pouchdb.

My experience with supabase start with their realtime server. An Elixir server (Phoenix) that allows you to listen to changes in your database via websockets. It’s like Postgresql Notify with some extra features like Debezium+Kafka

In the end, the most optimized way to save AWS cost is to call the AWS sales guy for lunch. I don't ask for anything but usually 2-3 days after that he'd call to inform that I got a few thousands of AWS credit.
