For some perspective, twitch generated $2.6 billion in revenue in 2021 and $2.8 billion in 2022. They've seen nothing but increased revenue over time.

On ycombinator they tend to use the author "Y Combinator" if it's just a general announcement coming from the company that is likely written by HR or marketing. Garry Tan, CEO, wrote this particular announcement. i.e author

Curious why you think trucking would have a bigger societal impact? As to why Google et al. are aiming for passenger vehicles, there about 4 million semi trucks in the US and over 290 million passenger vehicles.

Everything seems trivial when you trivialize the problem. Sao Paulo has an extremely high crime and violence rate aside from any dating app kidnappings. The city and country's problems extend far beyond dating apps and redirecting re

They look amazing when you consider 10 years ago bitcoin's price was ~$13/coin and now it's >$20k/coin. No other market or stock with that kind of massive growth.

Not even sure the US layoffs are really impacting US developers. The US unemployment rate keeps going down month to month despite big tech layoffs. The devs getting laid off are being snagged by other companies almost right away.

Never heard "the good employees never get laid off" before but it's naive and not so subtle victim blaming for employees who do get fired without cause. Companies hired too fast during pandemic and are needing to adjust to d

This is a weird opinion to me, but I reckon you're an ops person who doesn't code a lot so I respect not wanting to have to look at code if you're an ops/admin type. Most programmers would grasp the relevance of moderni

Just is built in Rust rather than C. Rust is generally nicer to work with and maintain than C libs so huge win there development wise. Feature wise, only see a couple things with Just right now that differentiate it from Make.

Ok, for some perspective here, that 45 seconds longer is about 50-100 times how long it took to do the one liner in javascript. Extrapolate that to generally 50-100x development time for the development of an entire project and you're
