The JavaScript community, especially the Node.js subset, takes gender neutral pronouns very seriously. I really hope the community is able to look beyond this egregious error on the authors part and instead focus on the rest of the content.

Almost always. If you're CS program that was like mine you were in a program that is full of guys who largely wanted to build computer games. Diversity of relationships is very important, especially in college. Adding a second major (m

It matters to me as a TWC customer. Luckily I have a choice between TWC and AT&T internet currently. I don't want to do business with one of the worst American companies, too bad both my choices are just that.

I'm not so sure. IBM seems to hire really cheap developers in India, so it could be they've realized they need to hire better engineers in the first place.

I wouldn't say Clojure, I would say Node.js.

"...only the research arm and a relatively small consulting staff and management remains US employees." There are hardware and software engineers throughout the USA. I also wouldn't call 66,000 people relatively small.

The unofficial IBM union ( http://www.endicottalliance.org/ ) estimates there to be ~66,000 FTE in the USA.

At various times in my life I have devote entirely too much time to Chess, COD, SWG, LOL, and SWTOR. Now I avoid them entirely, run desktop linux, and try to spend my time on things like violin, writing, reading, and coding.

They are only good if you've never coded before. If you have, they take at most a few hours to do and are largely a waste of money.

Can you add Dojo to the list? It's not MVC, but it's somewhat popular in enterprises.

Why would you want your own biases get in the way of educating your son? Python is a great first language because it is both approachable and practical. You can go in any direction... webapps, scientific computing, and even games (as I'

I'm not sure where you make up your data from, but if that's the case, you might be going into a lot of low end data centers. http://slashdot.org/topic/datacenter/idc-server-market-slowi...

IBM is nothing like a steel mill. There will always be services and software that are high margin. Do you know nothing about the history of IBM? They've reinvented themselves, and pivoted many, many, many times in the past.

I don't think you have a good understand of IBM's business. IBM is divesting its low margin hardware business. Currently, IBM's gross profit margin is 51% driven mainly by software sales, services, and global finance. IBM wan
