I don't see how this is different than Greasemonkey (other than addition of HTML/CSS). Is this more of a control issue due to Greasemonkey ported to Chrome?

I agree with the tptacek's "no". I had a brief membership during school, which allowed me to attend workshops and read research papers, but neither seem relevant now. There are networking events, but I've never been so I can't comment.

If this is merely based on platform, Apple is simply setting a precedent for other frameworks. From a business perspective, they don't want to lose direct control of the development of applications, especially since the Apple app approval ;

I would recommend against "cultural mapping" and spin off into a consulting service catered to expansion into the Chinese market. The consumer psychology is so different, that the main premise of many Western products will be valueless. The

While I can't access the page, the two concepts of Linux and Flex are culturally incompatible - one is a DIY barebones culture, while the other is already built. You might want to try FlashDevelop with the Visual Design plugin or code Flash

Personally, I have little trust in documentation. Not that it's useless, but that documentation rarely holds everything you need to know about the code. Usually, I'll take a high-to-low level approach, and use visualization programs/plugins
