As far as I know they don't have any special deals. They use the open graph "watch" action, and when you install the app you give it permission to post this action (it is the publish_actions permission). What you are seeing on the feed are

I know a great team of devs in Romania. They were really good and really moved my project forward. Send me an email if you want an introduction (I have no stake in it, I just like them and want to help them get good projects).

Yes (for some value of significant). There are lots of lisps out there - I know that Scheme / Racket / Arc have some nice features that make them good for rapid prototyping, such as continuations, macros, and powerful REPL. Having said that

I use arc and Racket for rapid web development. I use them because I like coding in lisp. Having said that, it's only fast if you've got experience with it, otherwise it is a long slog. Basically, the ecosystem just isn't as good. There is

I don't know much about using that, because I mainly play in the FB app space. It certainly works for some people, I think pinterest is the poster child for that. On the other hand there is something to be said for letting users use as much

The plan on how to market the app should come before building the app, it isn't something that works best bolted on at the end. If the product is already built, then the time is build out the user acquisition part, which is just as much of

User Acquisition isn't the only thing, but it should be the first thing. Once you figure out how to get users, then you do need to build a good product to retain them. First figure out a strategy to get people to use something, and then bui

Sending these emails drive down your domain's mail open rate and CTR[1], so it probably makes sense not to send those from that perspective. 1: My best guess is that if a user unsubscribes from a list, they aren't likely to open the subsequ

This experiment was done in Israel - I wonder what would other countries would look like. Israelis seem to be more aggressive and creative in getting what they want than, say, Southern Californians.

I work in Facebook app monetization and mobile ads, it is almost all CPC and CPI. The ad ecosystem is diverse enough that different pricing models apply in different situations.

I use vim-slime every day and am mainly happy with it. It is a little annoying to have to set up screen for it, I wish I knew how to script screen better but the docs are pretty opaque.

Mixpanel looks great, but by my calculations it seems really expensive. It looks like their CPMs are on the order of $0.30 to $0.08. If I've got a Facebook app, maybe I make on the order of $0.30 CPM per impression through ads or purchases.

I work on viral FB apps, it is a numbers game. Without an auth flow the 2nd day retention is maybe 1-2%. With an auth flow + wall posts, it is true that 60-80% won't auth the app, but we get enough people who do and come back the second day

A very interesting post. I'm a product manager that isn't great at coding, but I'm really good at dealing with remote teams / contractors. I've often wondered if this is a route I could take, it looks promising.
