Yeah, I think these didn't last for long? Maybe only late 80s. SVGA came about pretty quick.

You don't think having a black character that "identifies as white" and according to the article makes his boss happy to have met his diversity quota is political? I liked Dilbert a long time ago (90s-early 00s, where I saw i

Interesting! I have a friend who moved from Germany to work in India and he said devs in Bangalore earn more than in Berlin (where senior devs definitely earn higher than $30-50k). It sounded like they were paying more like $70-90k.

Wouldn't "creative manager" (I don't know what it means but it sounds high-up) have salary within the same order of magnitude?

I was surprised to read the supposedly generous base salary was just $920 per month - I was under the impression tech salaries in India are rivaling (and sometimes exceeding) those of Western Europe - is Pakistan that far behind Indian sala

And also starting by fixing the js/css/html front end is likely the safest, as it wont corrupt any customer data & it will be visible when something breaks. That can probably be the next best candidate to do a major overhaul.

These days it's mostly tiktok and youtuber/twitchers making videos about your game. Twitter is more for talking to other game devs.

The problem is that your figurative sense of smell may not be correct. It really is quite easy to mistake an honest question or assertion as passive aggression or sarcasm in text form.

It really depends on the company. It sounds like you were working at a B2B/enterprise company? But yeah, getting new business and/or funding is often a big part of the job. It doesn't meant they don't also make decisio

The story is more complex than that, Atari split in 2 (the games company and the consumer electronics company) and neither really exist anymore (and haven't for a long time now). But basically yes - they never replicated the success of

At least of the 3 examples on that webpage it seems like you made remakes of existing simple games (tetris, sokoban, pong) - did you try making new designs of your own and if not, why not?

I haven't lived in Austria in about a decade but I'm pretty sure that in Germany the longer you work somewhere the longer the Kündigungsfrist is. From a quick googling I see it's the same in Austria, up to a maximum of 5 mont

Yeah it’s usually something like a month and then extending for every additional year you worked there, but I don’t think it ever gets to 6 months. Longest I ever saw was someone getting 3 months of pay.

Well, that’s not something OP can easily change. But as someone working in Germany I’d say unless it’s literally a string of jobs you stayed in for less than a year each it’s not an issue- it is quite normal in software to switch jobs every

6 months is a very long time, at least in Germany and Austria it’s a lot shorter (unless you’ve been there for a very, very long time maybe).

Unfortunately many people subscribe to the concept that we’re living in a meritocracy and thus if someone is poor it’s due to their own fault.
