Try learning and using regular Python (CPython) first. Unless for some reason your job requires the use of lots of Java libraries (in your own start up, that should NOT be the case ;-), I don't see any reason to favor jython over CPython..

If you can keep your job and hack on the weekends, you can seed-fund your own damn self. Less worry about money will also allow you to work on what you enjoy, without the constant spectre of "How am I going to monetize this?"
