Use a VPN. Make that the only point of entry, and whenever somebody departs, you only have to revoke access to the VPN. Here's a decent OpenVPN guide: http://code.mixpanel.com/openvpn-in-the-rackspace-cloud/

Prototypes are, unfortunately, a bit convoluted in JavaScript. In Io[1], on the other hand, their beauty are readily apparent. [1] http://www.iolanguage.com/scm/io/docs/IoGuide.html#Objects

If a mobile app wanted to be updated every single week, I would get annoyed at some point. The point is that web applications can do this in a seamless manner.

And how exactly does this relate to the way they deploy their code? As far as I can tell, they actually review code before marking it ready for deploy. That kind of changes would be an issue with "usual" large batch deploys as well.

You are right, I think. What I was trying to say is, a lot of the people recommending college in these situations cite the "life experience"—which I wholeheartedly agree with—but, that might not be coupled to college :)

This really depends on where in the world you are located. Posts of this kind always have a bunch of answers along the lines of the parent post. The thing is, that is largely an American phenomenon, as far as I can tell. At least in Denmark

Dane here. Northern Europe is definitely an easy place to stay for a foreigner, but if you want to stay in a major city, rent is not going to be cheap, and food etc. is pretty expensive as well.

Coincidentally, I'm moving to Buenos Aires in the middle of January. Do you have any tips to share?

MSN Messenger had been sitting on the IM throne in Denmark for a couple of years until Facebook Chat came along.

Do you have any sources to back up that claim? Among my friends Facebook Chat has entirely replaced MSN Messenger.

1. Small instances on EC2 are really slow. Really, really slow. You get much more value with the medium instances. 2. Use a HTTP cache (e.g. Varnish) in front of your app. Even though you are using memcached, every request is still (I ass

Take a look at Io. It does prototypes properly. And they are, in fact, pretty nice to work with. I wouldn't mind getting rid of classes in my day-to-day life.

I've done most of that in one form or another, with nothing but an unfinished high school education. Still am. Every time one of these threads comes along, I get the impression that Americans don't get to have a social/independent life unti

This is one of my pet peeves. I can implement some basic authentication in something like 25 lines of code. AuthLogic: 2500 LOC. Devise: 2200 LOC. Clearance: 690. And yet, both times I tried to use AuthLogic, it actually didn't work for my
