There was a great bbc or nova episode that followed a number of children as they passed into adolescence. One of things they noted was how for a child there is no moral ambiguity. "Your wife is very sick, but you have no money. Your at a

Part of the callenge of the netflix contest was the dataset. At 101 million rows of data you couldn't toss your simple agorithm at the problem. But with githubs data at only 440,237... I am tempted to toss it into my netflix code just to

I don't watch tv, exercise every day, get 8 hours sleep, read a classic novel every month, invest wisely, only listen to "good" music and never pop, never use a windows computer, never get sad, volunteer every other month, don't gossip, can

I am way too tempted to apply computers to whatever manual job I am working on. For example working on cars I find fun, so working at a garage sounds nice, but that will no doubt lead to me hacking on the chips in the car...

I collect old Transformer toys and already I have begun to see some 3rd parties sell off "unpainted" transformers. I would not be surprised if in 10 years it would be very common for their to be printed addons and or all new toys.

They have been working on the linux port for only 9 months porting what was essentially a native windows application written in Visual Studio. The fact that they got this far this fast shows that they have a pretty good team.

The point isn't that they produced something shiny, but the quality of the code that backs it up. The link you presented did not link to any source code, but to a marketing blog. The quality might be horrible, but they shipped it.
