Almost 10% of us are mobile. On a small screen with slower bandwidth HN is a lot nicer than /. Almost annoying that even though the site is so efficient already the site icon and the logo aren't the same url or that the arrows are not uni

Speaking of RepRap does anyone have a list of things that are either impossible or incredibly expensive/difficult to manufacture in traditional ways, but with a 3d printer are easy?

Back in 2008 when I bought my car the used Prius's were going for almost the price of a new one. This seemed like a short term fad of near zero depreciation and unwise to bet that it would stay that way. The Prius was really the only game

I am one of those in the article. A few years ago I needed a new car, running the math it wasn't a fantastic deal and I could get a much nicer car (performance, looks, style, sound, features) for the same total price. I also said "mayb

Sounds like you did something similar to what I did a few years ago. During lunch I ran a Quake server and every five minutes it would generate a new random level (random layout, goals, weapons, lighting etc). Cycles and no dead ends are

For several years I have been using QtWebKit to write tests that utilize the dom. Fast startup, console output etc. I wouldn't be surprised if the Chrome guys have a similar stripped down Chrome for JS unit tests.

Well a good chunk of it doubt is all in the Network layer which is outside of "WebKit". Image compression, dns, fetching, pre-fetching, streaming, etc. You can no doubt get tons of win just by having a proxy server that gzip's everything

The invoice for the install was 34K. You get back 33% from the fed. ~25% from the MA rebate, and another $1K back from MA taxes. I only had to write a check for the 34K minus the MA rebate (which MA writes a check to the installer before

Due to ClojureScript I have been going about learning Clojure the past few weeks. For anyone in a similar boat found a fun little site http://4clojure.com/ that teaches you Clojure by coding on the website which is pretty cool.

Pretty much anywhere you go there is corporate infighting. Learning to deal with that in a constructive way and not let it get you down (too much) is important. The conclusion the author was trying to sell (I think) was that Silverlight di
