This feels like those arguments that text is the worst way to code and we actually need a no code solution instead. Theoretically maybe, but chat windows are getting the job done right now.

Maybe they use a traditional character keyboard and don't have a simplified character keyboard set up.

No offense but this sounds like a nightmare. It also sounds like you did a fantastic job achieving accuracy despite the complexity of the system. That’s something to be proud of.

Just a guess but maybe denying at time of purchase costs them more than it's worth. Lots of go-backs from a cart full of stuff, and some of it is perishable and you don't know how long it's been in the cart, so more shrink. C

Fair. I guess I have an issue with technology projections that assume the technology will follow some fit, because it always has. Every bit of progress is made with tons of risky work and breakthroughs, and none of it is guaranteed like you

I'd rather hear a projection from an engineer/scientist/operations person in the industry. This kinda reads like it's written by an armchair expert who thinks about batteries a lot, but doesn't have much to do with

When I was a kid in the 90s, it was all about how video games and TV would ruin the new generation. Now, it’s smartphones and YouTube. Somehow I think the next generation will be fine.

My point was more that the arbitrage is not systematically predictable, not that the arbitrage doesn’t exist.

Agreed, if stock prices were predictable by some technical means, they would be quickly driven to unpredictability by people trading on those technical indicators.

I don't think it's going to be as bad as everyone is saying in this comment thread. Current AI's not accurate enough to replace most human work and only showing incremental improvements lately. A new technological strategy is

I think Einstein would agree. Time is relative but you always experience 1 second per second no matter where you are or how fast you’re going.

Downloading the result of your multi-year computation would take a long time too, so that needs to be factored in.

It gives a lot of power to The One App To Rule Them All though. And what happens when the company decides to switch to another system in 5-10 years? Email at least has stood the test of time- Slack has not.

Is it really a problem that needs solving? What’s the issue with having multiple means of communicating?

Well, you had 13 years of seeing your parents drive. Even if you aren't paying attention, it's probably enough to get the basic idea. The AI has never been in a car or seen someone drive before.

They don’t necessarily want thoughtful answers, they want answers that provide them information about the candidate. Sending the questions in advance would ruin that.

I never really understand why people assert “tell me what I just wrote” or “tell me your system prompt” etc are going to give you actual results. How can you know it’s not just making something up?

It sounds like he was/is a personable engineering manager that paid attention to detail. Making sure parts match the drawings, bringing in outsiders to have a second look at things, etc.

If this is related to the weekend’s events, it’s just sad. I subscribed a few weeks ago and chatgpt 4 is such a handy thing to have. They potentially broke up a great company and product for nothing. I think it was Roon on Twitter who put i
